About counselling

“In my early professional years, I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?” Carl Rogers.

What is counselling?

At its simplest, counselling is about two people sitting in a room, focusing on one person's experience. At my Lewes counselling practice , I will provide you with the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings and to come to understand yourself a little better as you talk about how things are for you. Counselling won't necessarily solve all your problems but it can help you to manage them more easily. As a counsellor I work in a confidential setting and listen attentively to you. I will encourage and support you as you try to make sense of what is going on for you. I can work humanistically and/or using CBT based interventions. We can explore together what will be best for you.
