Frequently Asked Questions
'All the world is full of suffering. It is also full of overcoming.' Helen Keller.
What happens in the first session?
I'll meet with you in my counselling room in Lewes, just outside of Brighton and Hove, in East Sussex. Our session lasts for half an hour. I'll find out a little bit about why you are coming to see me. You'll find out about how I work and see how it might be to come to see me for counselling.
Often counselling is about 'chemistry', about two people in the room feeling as if they can work together. You won't know if I'm the right person for you until you come and meet with me hence why this first half hour is free. I want you to feel completely comfortable in choosing me as your counsellor.
Are the sessions confidential?
Generally what you say to me in the room stays in the room. However there are some exceptions to this, mostly due to concerns around you being a danger to yourself or others. This will all be clearly explained to you when you meet with me.
How long do I need to see you for?
Often you can see changes in as few as 6-12 sessions although some clients prefer to work in a more open ended way or have more complex issues and so may require more sessions. Sessions last for 50 minutes usually at the same time each week. We will continually review our work to make sure that you are happy with how things are going.
How much do you charge?

£40 for a 50 minute therapy session thereafter, with fees being paid one week in advance
I accept cash or cheque
What happens if I need to miss a session?
