My name is Jacky Adams and I am a practising counsellor and psychotherapist based in Lewes, a small town just outside of Brighton and Hove in East Sussex. I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. My aim at my Lewes counselling practice is to create a warm, calm space in which you can fully explore whatever is troubling you so that together we can look at ways of helping you move forward in your life. I will encourage you to talk about issues you feel you cannot share with others and I will actively listen to your concerns, helping you towards a deeper understanding of yourself.

At my Lewes counselling practice, I work with both adults and young people on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

    In addition to running a private practice counselling clients in Lewes , near Brighton and Hove, I also work for the NHS providing 1-1 counselling in Lewes for parents either before birth or afterwards, dealing with a range of issues from grief and loss to anxiety and depression. Becoming a parent can be a particularly stressful time and people find it helpful to be able to have someone with whom to talk through their thoughts and feelings. At my Lewes counselling practice, I can offer counselling for anxiety as well as counselling for depression, two areas which can have a significant impact on the quality of your life.

    I have experience of working as a psychotherapist and counsellor with Cruse, the National Bereavement charity and have undergone their Bereavement Awareness training programme. It may be that you are currently going through a bereavement or you have been bereaved in the past and would welcome a safe space in which to explore your feelings: this is where my Lewes counselling practice may be of help.     Prior to training as a counsellor and psychotherapist practising in Lewes, I worked for over ten years as a teacher and so have extensive knowledge of working with teenagers and their families. Further training in working with teenagers has enhanced my knowledge of development and attachment issues that may be impacting on the young person. I am currently employed as an honorary counsellor at a High School in Brighton and offer counselling to young people in my private counselling practice in Lewes .
